The damaged panel is pulled apart. All unbroken pieces of glass are saved. Then all the old cement is cleaned from the glass. Where necessary, new glass is cut to replace broken pieces. The panel is then laid out ready to be leaded up.
Strips of H shaped lead are cut, and used to hold the pieces of glass together. When the panel is complete, it is ready to be fluxed and soldered.
All the joints of the strips of lead are soldered, in order to make the panel rigid.

To create a stronger, waterproof panel, cement is worked into the lead and then it is set aside to dry.
The surplus cement is scraped off and the panel is scrubbed clean.
The fully restored panel is ready to be refitted into its frame.
